My Experience taking English Comp.

Having this experience in a college classroom, taking a class has been extremely beneficial. My English class has prepared me for the way i will be writing in college when i start. The requirement for the class was to complete an autobiography 13-15 pages long. My instructor Shelia Rocha gave critic our papers to make our writing the best of our abilities. Writing the paper made us look at our lives to see what makes me happy, makes me hurt, and what makes me feel good. I think about my family and friends and how supportive there are of me. It just makes me think about my life in general. I would suggest this class to everybody i know. I love it!!!!!

Mutual of Omaha job shadow

My experience with Mutual of Omaha was incredible. I really had a great time. The work atmosphere was very friendly and everybody was very kind about showing us around. The people we were shadowing all had flex time. Flex time is when you have a certain number of hours each week but not a set time to come into work. You can even work from home as long as you are getting your work done. Mutual is an insurence company. It is pretty well known around the world. They were even in the fortune 500. They want people to recognize them as a business that wants to help people get what they want. The company wants to cator to the customers' needs as much as possible. I learned a lot while I was there, i wouldn't mind if I worked there in the future. They were telling us about the paid internship possisions possible, and I think I might apply too.

Blog #2

Hey, well i have some achievements. i have made honor roll most of the time of my whole educational experience. School is extremely important to my family and i. i have been on the Omaha Central cheerleading squad throughout my high school career. The team has won awards for the routine that we bring to the camps we have. We were also in this competition that we got second place for.(I think we earned first though lol). I was in a marketing 1-2 so i had a taste of the whole deca experience (some people are really serious about that stuff) and i was in fbla because of my accounting class. My best achievement was making it into summer scholars because that was all my doing, my effort, my time, and my perseverance.
Some issues that come across my attention is the way that some races lose their cultures. I am African American/Black and i really think that the black nation take some things for granted here in America. Sometimes we forget who made all this possible for us. First and for most God because without him there would be no us, but the historical activists that have fought for our rights. People right now are actually dieing in africa to be able to vote and over here they have the right but for whatever reason they chose not to.
Another cocern to me is the urban cities and the educational institutes. Black America are not teaching their children that knowledge is power and when the kids don't learn anything they are powerless. Trying to skip class, roam the halls, and be disrespectful to teachers is not the answer. They must not understand that being illiterate is not cute what so ever so they need to stop being dumb do what they need to do in order to succeed.
I would like to further my education in college because it's how i have been brought up. It is like second nature when i finish high school next comes college just like high school after junior high. I know that going is how i can make money and be able to relax and enjoy lifes joys.

Briche''s College Experience

My experience at the Summer Scholars Program was great. Being with a group of people headed in the same direction of excellence is a wonderful thing. It keeps you focused on your work. A lot of us have different classes so we can't always do our homework together but we can still study. Our goal is to do well so when one falls behind we have to help them try to get back on track.

A big obstacle we all face is time management. At the beginning of the program we set our curfew to 12 o'clock. We had the option of going to sleep early or staying up with our friends. Most of us went to sleep after 12. I came to realize you will be worthless in the morning if you don't get rest for class. Most of our teachers grade on participation in class, so needless to say we need to go to bed early.

The residence assistance helped out a lot. I appreciate them because they really told us the truth about college life. We began to see that as time progressed. They were always around if we had any questions about anything, they were really laid back. They were all young so they knew what we liked an didn't like for the most part. I think they are the true leaders.

The best experience i had was the scavenger hunt. It was so hectic trying to get the clues the fastest. Everybody was trying to help out the best they could. That was the best team building activity we could have had. The only bad thing was is that we couln't determine a winner because some of the groups cheated, but it didn't matter who won we had a great time.
